After owning this in as is condition for around 4 years, here for sale is a late 1940’s early Atala road racing bicycle.

From a time of pioneering bicycle developments and racing.

This frame features a working early version of the iconic Campagnolo Cambio Corsa drivetrain. This drivetrain is one of the first, early multi speed transmissions that continued to develop into the drivetrains we take for granted today. 

Shifting is done via the rear levers, one to release the wheel and the other to move the chain to the desired gear on the captive spinning wheel, once a gear is selected you lock the wheel back in place with the first lever this is how shifting is done on the fly, the rear wheel moves back and forth whilst released cleverly keeping the chain taught and engaged.

This was purchased from a wonderful collector interstate who had imported it from Italy, in the current condition you see.

A product of its time with Magistroni cranks, Universal calipers, Balilla levers.

Due to its age and being away from its original home in Italy, information is limited from previous owners.

Frame size is 55cm ST C-C and 58cm TT C-C.

Original Atala paint is lovely and visible on the fork.

Condition presents as is, un-restored for provenance.
