With a heavy heart, I’m parting ways with a beautiful, custom-built (in the USA) steel road bike from Hampsten Cycles [hampsten.com]. If you’re into classic aesthetics paired with modern performance, this one’s worth a look. There are ~300 miles on the bike+components and they have only seen asphalt. Everything is in mint condition. There are a couple of minor paint dings from road debris—purely cosmetic.

Built for purists, this bike channels the spirit of a 60s-era road racer but is fully up to date where it matters:

Frame: Custom Hampsten with Columbus PegoRichie steel and fork – built in the Pacific Northwest
Tire clearance: Currently running 32mm Stampede Pass tires, but mid-reach calipers can fit up to 38mm tire
Wheels: Astral Solstice (hand-built in Eugene OR)
Groupset: Shimano Ultegra 8000 (mechanical)
Brakes: Velo Orange mid-reach rim calipers (silver)
Bars/Stem/Seatpost: Ritchey Classic (silver)
Headset: Chris King (silver)

Asking $5500 for the complete bike (the build with components is well over $7000). While I prefer to sell as-is, I would consider selling the frameset alone for $2500 ($3600+ new). Reasonable offers are of course welcome, but given the like-new condition I’m hoping to recover as much of the cost as I can. Can meet up with local buyers in the greater Seattle area or will consider shipping nationwide (at buyer’s expense).

Why am I selling it? The bike fit I leveraged from a third party (not from Hampsten) turned out to be not quite right for me, but I should note the bike was built perfectly to the specs provided. This is an amazing bike and I want to find this the right home.

Full specs below, and feel free to reach out with questions.

Exploring dirt paths and gravel roads, riding in the rain, commuting, or running errands wearing normal clothes – sometimes extreme measures call for resuscitating the past.” https://www.hampsten.com/strada-bianca
