Fantastic light, takes two (2) 18650 type batteries. This was my incredibly reliable incredibly illuminating headlight on many Randonneuring brevets with late nights and early mornings.
It is constructed with two beams – one that shoots further out and one closer in, and both cut down to help not blind oncoming traffic (cyclists and motorists). It doesn’t conform to the EU/German standard, I don’t think, but it’s a good feature regardless.
That beam cut feature is the only reason I’m getting rid of this light as well – I moved to fairly narrow handlebars and otherwise reconfigured my headlight setup and I now mount a light upside-down on the bottom of an out-front computer mount (another Fenix), so the beam cut would be cutting upwards /into/ people’s eyes… not good.
Performance depends on batteries used – you can find affordable & good ones online or just buy from Fenix and overpay (google to find out which brand they rewrap and buy those?), but it’s rated for 16hrs at 200 lumens & 6hrs at 600 lumens. High is 1500 lumens for ~2.25hrs, and it has a 2200lumen quick burst feature you can activate from a little wireless remote.
I’ve put it through its paces. It’s pretty damn solid and I recommend it highly. Comes with the handlebar mount with 2x inserts for varying handlebar diameters & the wireless remote.
Does not come with any batteries (maybe the 4x smaller non-rechargeable ones it originally shipped with that should still have a charge) or battery charger. I have 2-4 18650 batteries I could let go of upon discussion.
